A Story of Grace – Day 3

Romans 8 v 3

The Law of Moses cannot do this, because our selfish desires make the Law weak. But God set you free when he sent his own Son to be like us sinners and to be a sacrifice for our sin. God used Christ’s body to condemn sin. (‭Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭3‬ Contemporary English Version)

This verse needs no explanation, except to say that the best illustration I have seen is in The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.  Aslan sacrifices his own life in place of that of Eustace who has betrayed the children to the White Witch.

But, because He is innocent of the crime death cannot claim him forever! He comes back to life and as he does, the curse of always Winter but never Christmas is broken and Spring breaks forth!

I loved this book as a boy! It is such a vivid illustration of Grace and Salvation. And it perfectly portrays the truth of the Gospel.  Our selfish desires weaken the law, but because God gave His own Son in our place we are made free!
