A Story of Grace – Day 2

Romans 8 v 2

Yesterday we looked at the first verse of Romans Chapter 8 and investigated Paul’s statement there there is no condemnation if we are in Christ Jesus.

What does it mean to be IN Christ Jesus?!  It means to live our lives in accordance with His will and purpose. And to let Him have sway over our decisions, priorities and our activities.

So whilst it is not a conditional promise, it is still a promise made to us who believe.

Then we come to today’s verse.  It just so happens that Romans 8 v 2 is today’s Verse of the Day on You Version, my daily devotions app!  Realising that this morning, inspired me! It’s always reassuring to find you and God are on the same page!

But here comes the promise…  We are in Christ, (we got that…) “And because you belong to Him, The power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death!”

What a promise!!

Three days after my wife threw me out of the family home, God spoke a verse into my heart, so clearly I can feel it even now! He said “there is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death!”  This verse is from the book of Proverbs and hearing it shook me to the core! It wasn’t said in anger, but I heard the love of my Father God as he gently guided me.

I knew there that I was a a crossroads in my life, fight for my wife or run off with my lover, I realised I had only one road worth taking. I turned to God, poured out my heart and sought out a church where I could attend so my family and friends had space to deal with my unfaithfulness and betrayal.

I didn’t know then whether my wife would have me back, all I knew was that I needed to be back where I belonged, with Jesus!

That is why today I can celebrate the power of this verse: Because I (me, the no good filthy sinner!) belong to Him the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed me from death and sin!  Hallelujah! Thank you Jesus!

If you need to know this freedom, message me and I will be delighted to tell you how you can know peace, forgiveness and a new, fresh start!

Trust me, if He can do it for me, He can do it for you!
